AFL 2013 ROUND 3; GEELONG
V CARLTON; MATCH PREVIEW By Ben Jensen twitter.com/thecattery GEELONG CATS V CARLTON BLUES STEVE JOHNSON is an inclusion for the Cats this week along with Jordan Murdoch, while James Kelly and Mitchell Brown miss due to injury and omission. Kelly, who only returned last week, will miss with a calf injury. Johnson returns from a suspension and minor surgery while Murdoch has recovered from a hand complaint suffered in the round one win over the Hawks. Josh Hunt and Dan Menzel have been named in the VFL side to play Williamstown at home on Sunday. Last season the Cats beat the Blues by 12 points on a Friday night at Etihad. They will be hoping to do the same and go to a three-nil opening for the season. The Blues on the other hand have had just that, losing both opening matches, to Richmond in round one and Collingwood last weekend.

AFL 2012, ROUND 11, FRIDAY 2 JUNE 2012 19:50 AEST; ETIHAD STADIUM 7 JUNE 2012 AFL ROUND 11 2012; CARLTON V GEELONG; MATCH PREVIEW CATS GIVE CARLTON THE BLUES AT ETIHAD By Ben Jensen twitter.com/thecattery CARLTON BLUES V GEELONG CATS GEELONG retained the Milburn-Silvani Cup over Carlton at Etihad Stadium tonight but had to work for it, spending much of the game a goal or so behind the Blues, finally snatching back the lead in the third quarter. They did it without James Podsiadly who pulled out before the bounce, his place taken by Jesse Stringer who was also a late inclusion last week. Joel Selwood, Stephen Motlop and Jimmy Bartel really stood up while David Wojcinski in his 200th game had pace to burn and was in reasonable touch. Motlop though had his best game yet for the Cats, certainly most important given his four goals and other efforts came at crucial times with the match in the balance. Eddie Betts threatened to snatch the game away with his own boot with three first quarter goals but he would be the Blues' only multiple-goalkicker for the night.
