AFL 2014 ROUND 9; FREMANTLE V GEELONG;
TEAMS AND MATCH PREVIEW By Ben Jensen FREMANTLE DOCKERS V GEELONG CATS JED BEWS is set to make his AFL debut for the Cats against the Dockers at Subiaco Oval on Saturday night. Bews, son of Geelong and Brisbane great Andrew, is in his third season on Geelong's list after being drafted under father-son rule in 2011. Starting out at local club Leopold Jed soon made his mark at the Geelong Falcons, and has impressed at VFL level the past two and a half seasons. He will wear number 24, made famous in the 1980s by his old man's backline colleague Mark Bos who won back to back Carji Greeves Medals in 1987-88 before retiring following the 1989 season before turning 30. Also coming back into the side is Andrew Mackie, who has had two matches off with a hamstring injury suffered in the round 5 win over Hawthorn. Missing out are George Burbury with a groin complaint and Matthew Stokes, who was suspended for striking Tiger Steven Morris in round 7. For the Dockers Matthew Pavlich will play his 300th game, the Fremantle skipper also sitting on 598 goals so may crack the 600 mark if the forward gets his eye in. He made his AFL debut in 2000, the same season Mark Thompson took over as coach of the Cats. In the VFL the Cats play Williamstown on Saturday afternoon at Burbank Oval.
UMPIRES TBA TIP: Cats by 3 points

AFL 2ND QUALIFYING FINAL 2013 GEELONG V FREMANTLE SATURDAY 7 SEPTEMBER 2013 14:20 AEST SIMONDS STADIUM FORTRESS BREACHED; DOCKERS DEFEAT
CATS AND EARN HOME PRELIM FINAL AFL FINALS 2013 GEELONG CATS V FREMANTLE DOCKERS THE FREMANTLE DOCKERS defeated Geelong at Simonds Stadium today in something of an upset. The Dockers were as good as the Cats bad, playing much better and cleaner footy from the get go. Zac Dawson was reported for a whack on James Podsiadly before the opening bounce and awarded a free kick 40m out from goal from which he could only score a behind - which turned out to be an omen as the Cats booted four goals six in the opening term. The Dockers only managed two goals five, but from then on proceeded to outscore the Cats in every quarter. 7 SEPTEMBER 2013 FORTRESS BREACHED; DOCKERS DEFEAT CATS AND EARN HOME PRELIM FINAL 7 SEPTEMBER 2013 AFL 2013 2ND QUALIFYING FINAL; GEELONG V FREMANTLE; MATCH PREVIEW FREMANTLE:
