AFL 2014 ROUND 21: CARLTON BLUES V
GEELONG CATS;
TEAMS AND MATCH PREVIEW By Ben Jensen CARLTON BLUES V GEELONG CATS JIMMY BARTEL AND STEVE JOHNSON will miss Friday night's clash with Carlton at the chilly Etihad Stadium, the first time there won't be a modern-day Norm Smith Medallist playing for the Cats since 2001 with Paul Chapman now at Essendon. Johnson's absence is ironic given he once more beat suspension by the skin of his teeth, missing through injury as does Bartel. The Blues have named an unchanged lineup, and have won three of their last five games while the Cats have now won six in a row and stand level on wins with ladder leaders Hawthorn and Sydney while Carlton sit in thirteenth position.
UMPIRES FIELD:
Hosking, Rosebury, Schmidt EM: TIP: Cats by 36 points

AFL 2014 ROUND 12 GEELONG CATS V CARLTON BLUES GEELONG narrowly defeated Carlton tonight, trailing by as much as 16 points after the Blues had kicked six unanswered goals from late in the third quarter. With about a minute left and the Blues leading by one point, Joel Selwood who to that point had an ordinary night, steadied and slotted a goal from 40-45m out from goal off his right boot. The last minute was agonizing, spending the final 30 odd seconds right in front of the Blues' goal as several stoppages saw the time eventually tick down to nothing, Blues players shattered at the final siren after leading for much of the night. Tom Hawkins kicked four goals, all in the second quarter that saw the Cats pull away with seven goals to three. Bryce Gibbs matched him with four goals, Dale Thomas and Matthew Stokes next best with three apiece. GEELONG:
