AFL 2015 ROUND 16:
GEELONG V WESTERN BULLDOGS MATCH PREVIEW AFL ROUND 16 2015: GEELONG CATS V WESTERN BULLDOGS GEELONG will be hoping to get their season back on some kind of track with a win over the Western Bulldogs at home today, after losing their last two matches to Melbourne and North Melbourne respectively. It won't be an easy task with the Bulldogs so far having a great season in coach Luke Beveridge's first year in charge, sitting in sixth spot on the ladder with nine wins compared to the Cats who relatively languish in eleventh spot with just the six wins. A pretty miserable day is on the cards, as we write the temperature is in the single-figures though we should not get too much rain today. Geelong selectors haven't completely swung the axe making three changes, but have potentially put an end up the Dawson Simpson experiment, dropping him after just the one game back after weeks in the VFL side. Skipper Joel Selwood is suspended for the infamous 'chicken wing' tackle while Jared Rivers is another imposed change with a knee complaint. The great news is Mitch Duncan returns after two months out with a broken foot, around a month earlier than first expected. Joining Duncan in the inclusions are forward Shane Kersten who had a one match spell in the twos, and Jake Kolodjashnij for his second game. The Bulldogs have actually made more changes, four, two of them forced despite having won four in a row now.
UMPIRES TBC TIP: Cats by 36 points

TOP FOUR HOPES ALIVE AFL 2014 ROUND 16 GEELONG CATS V WESTERN BULLDOGS GEELONG did just enough to get the four points over the Bulldogs at Simonds Stadium in tonight's twilight (or nightmare) fixture. Just under 25,000 souls braved the very cold and wet conditions, a few of them there early to see the Geelong side belted by Footscray in the VFL. Dawson Simpson, who was named first ruck in the AFL side, was dropped to the VFL, and along with James Kelly (soreness) were left out of the AFL side, replaced by Jew Bews and Brad Hartman. No standout goal kicker on the day, five players kicking two each: Tom Hawkins, Shane Kersten, Mitch Duncan for the Cats. The Cats' top four hopes remain alive, level on eleven wins from fifteen games with Port Adelaide, Hawthorn and Fremantle but down in fifth due to inferior percentage. Next week the Cats play Melbourne at the MCG in a rare Saturday afternoon fixture. GEELONG:
