AFL 2016 ROUND 14: ST KILDA SAINTS
V GEELONG CATS; MATCH PREVIEW & TEAMS AFL ROUND 14 2016: ST KILDA SAINTS V GEELONG CATS CAMERON GUTHRIE, who may well be leading the Geelong best and fairest votes so far this season, is back to play the Saints on Saturday night at Etihad Stadium in place of Josh Caddy who as expected will miss a knee injury. St Kilda has brought back veteran forward Nick Riewoldt along with Paddy McCartin, the number one draft pick in 2014. Caddy hurt the medial ligament in one of his knees in the big win over the Bulldogs on Saturday night, immediately leaving the ground and appearing on crutches. The injury fortunately requires no surgery but will see him miss up to 8 weeks, leaving him a task to break back into the AFL side when he does get back to full fitness, presumably in August. Cats coach Chris Scott says Mitch Clark is very close to a recall to the AFL side after great performances in the VFL including the televised game against the Box Hill Hawks last Sunday. Nakia Cockatoo returns to the VFL this week, against Williamstown on Sunday, after a knee injury that last week was listed as a 4-6 week injury and even in Tuesday's injury report as 2-3 weeks. Last year's matcfh with the Saints ended in a draw, the Saints actually unlucky having had far more shots at goal than the Cats with 14 goals 13 behinds to the Cats' 15 goals 7 behinds. One would expect this season to be quite different though of course the losses to the Magpies and the Blues a few weeks ago prove any side can beat another on a given day. Though you'd hope with so many Geelong playesr in good form of late the Cats should win comfortably, heading into their bye round.

AFL 2015 ROUND 21 ST KILDA SAINTS V GEELONG CATS SATURDAY 22 AUGUST 2015 19:20 AEST ETIHAD STADIUM IT'S A DRAW! GEELONG AND ST KILDA
MATCH ENDS IN STALEMATE AFL ROUND 21 2015: GEELONG CATS V ST KILDA SAINTS GEELONG and St Kilda played out at draw at Etihad Stadium last night in front of a small crowd of 25,000. The Saints had the upper hand until just before half time, letting the Cats back into the game with a few late goals and repeating that pattern in the third quarter. But in the last quarter the Saints out-scored the Cats three goals to two with the Cats only snatching back the lead with a couple minutes to go. With one point the different St Kilda's Shane Savage had a shot for goal but could only manage a behind which tied the scores with seconds to go. The result makes it more difficult for Geelong to make the finals, the main scenario is relying upon Adelaide to lose at home to West Coast next weekend, and for the Cats to defeat Collingwood Friday night then beat Adelaide in the last round. Cat fans will rue the stuff-up by Steve Johnson in the first half, who thought he was going to casually stroll into a goal but found himself tackled by a Saints defender out of sight. Though he finished with four goals including a spectacular one minutes later the five points missed would have made a difference. 23 AUGUST 2015 IT'S A DRAW!
