AFL 2016 ROUND 17: FREMANTLE DOCKERS
V GEELONG CATS; MATCH PREVIEW & TEAMS AFL 2016 ROUND 17: FREMANTLE DOCKERS V GEELONG CATS THE GEELONG BRAINS TRUST has swung the axe after the loss last Friday night to the Sydney Swans. Travelling west to face the Fremantle Dockers the Cats will leave Jimmy Bartel, Mitch Clark and Darcy Lang at home. Clark only played his first AFL match in well over a year last weekend but made little impact and goes back to the VFL while Lang rightfully is also going back to the VFL. Bartel has been 'managed' as he closes in on 300 career games- he is still set to play the milestone game at home, and likely in the same match that Corey Enright breaks the Geelong record for games played. Tonight Andrew Mackie plays his 250th game after making his AFL debut in 2003 and being drafted in 2002 with pick 7, a genuine 'roughy' at the time after Mackie did not play in the SA under 18 side that year. Kevin Sheedy, long known for attempting to find players otherwise unknown by the AFL Draft system, complained that "something fishy has been going on". Coming into the side are Shane Kersten, who in our opinion never should have been dropped in the first place, Rhys Stanley who was also dropped last week, and Josh Cowan for his first game of the season. Thankfully Nakia Cockatoo retains his spot, he was one of the three inclusions last week who performed well. Cowan has had a rough trot with injury but made his comeback last season and looked good this pre-season and in VFL games. The Dockers who've had a fair old Frocker of a season made just the two changes to the side that was beaten by Melbourne last weekend. Clark was in the news this week after word emerged of some on-field sledging from Clark to Box Hill Hawks player Teia Miles about the latter's sister- who happens to be Mitch Duncan's girlfriend; the pair of them of course are the children of former Geelong player and Barwon Heads identity Geoff Miles. Ugly stuff and hardly what happy teams are made of. The matter is supposedly closed although coach Chris Scott said he was not aware of it until the news broke on Monday, make of that what you will.

AFL 2015 ROUND 2 GEELONG CATS V FREMANTLE DOCKERS SUNDAY 12 APRIL 2015 13:10 AEST SIMONDS STADIUM CATS TOUCHED UP AT HOME BY DOCKERS GEELONG CATS V FREMANTLE DOCKERS ON SUNDAY Geelong kept up with Fremantle for about a half of footy but was belted thereafter, a seven goal to two third quarter finishing off the Cats' hopes of picking up their first win for the season. Nathan 'Nat' Fyfe was the star of the day, along with David Mundy and Michael Barlow. Fyfe, who we hadn't watched play too many times before, was really impressive, his goal in the second quarter where he somehow got past four Cats to boot a long goal the highlight. The only other green shoots for the Cats was the first match of Rhys Stanley since crossing from St Kilda. Coming in as a late change for Jared Rivers the versatile Stanley competed well all day, spending time taking ruck duties from Dawson Simpson and kicking two goals. Fellow talls Tom Hawkins and Mitch Clark also kicked two apiece. Cory Gregson in his game also gave plenty. Finally there was much fanfare about food pricing at the likes of the MCG and Etihad Stadium pre-season. We're pleased to report the wonderful 'Wun Hung Lo' behind the Players Stand sells very tasty and relatively healthy steamed dim sims and dumplings; get on it! Jimmy Bartel is set to be named tonight to play the Gold Coast on Sunday. 16 APRIL 2015 CATS TOUCHED UP AT HOME BY DOCKERS 10 APRIL 2015 AFL 2015 ROUND 2: GEELONG V FREMANTLE MATCH PREVIEW FREMANTLE:
